I've had several people ask me about my inspiration to write Dragons are Real! For years I talked about writing a book with Mad Maggie and Richard as my characters but things in my life always got in the way. Then one day at work I was experiencing a lot of negativity. It was so bad that day, that while I was driving home on a very long stretch of almost deserted road, I rolled down my window and screamed. Then I yelled "I want to write my book now!"
The next morning I woke up at 5am and I couldn't stop writing until it was finished at noon the same day. I was inspired by many events in my life where the people around me such as peers, bosses, and even teachers sought to put me down and stomp on my dreams. (Much like the villagers telling Maggie that dragons aren't real.) I had experienced this so many times that I finally stood up for myself and decided to press on even while these others tried to convince me that I would never succeed.
I wrote this book with the intention of sharing my story in a whimsical fun way so children and adults can understand my message. No matter what anyone says you should always dream big and dare to believe in yourself, because in the end with hard work and determination anything is possible!
Thank you for your support and much love to you all!
